Reading section might be easy or even the difficult one for you. But, don’t worry. Here are some tips for you:
- Work on your reading skills, not IELTS Skill.
It is important to be familiar with IELTS reading test. But it’s more important to have the skill to understand reading in general, read to understand the whole meaning of the reading text. So, work on your reading skill and not only how to answer the questions on reading section of the IELTS test.
- Master the Vocabularies
Main things in understanding a reading text is to master the vocabularies. So, IELTS Reading section is trully a vocabulary test. So master the vocabularies is the key to success on IELTS Reading section.
- Read the instruction carefully.
So many easy marks are lost because the candidates fail to read the instructions properly. This is happened especially in the reading tests because they didn’t carefully read the specific instructions.
For example, the instructions might state ‘write two words and/or a number’. Even if a number is written as a word it counts as a number e.g. Forty two is counted as 42. ‘Forty two bikes’ is one word and a number. If you don’t do this, of course you will lose a mark.
- Timing is everything
You might spend too much time just for one question. Don’t spend a set or fixed amount of time on each question because this is really a bad idea. There are different difficulties on each question. Great timing often comes from best practices. Check out how long do you take on reading the text and answering each question.
- Leave no blanks
When you are not so sure with the answer, just write the answer and leave no blanks on the answer sheet. You might get lucky to have the correct answers and of course get you the points of it. You have nothing to lose.
